Plea for funds to save Mugar wetlands continues

Mugar site, Google Earth

The local drive to save the Mugar wetlands from development persists.

Arlington residents who filed suit 15 months ago to prevent construction of Thorndike Place are seeking $50,000 to help pay legal and other fees.

The proposed massive four-story rental building with townhomes would occupy land near documented wetlands and floodplain. With no direct access to Mass. Ave. or Route 2, all traffic will empty onto Lake Street.

The Coalition to Save the Mugar Wetlands continues to promote awareness about the project.

What’s at stake:
  • Wetland and habitat destruction;
  • Increased flooding;
  • Increased traffic; and
  • Decreased use of Thorndike Field.
