Keep 6 feet away, even on bikeway

The Minuteman Commuter Bikeway observed its 25th birthday in 2017, as the video shows. Now the bikeway's legacy includes its role in the current coronavirus crisis, and a letter to the editor from Heidi Hample of Arlington offers clear concerns:

Dear all of us who live in, or pass through Arlington,

It was beautiful this past Sunday [March 15]. I went for a walk on the Minuteman Bikeway. There, in this very trying time for all of us, I saw no one creating six feet of space around them to protect themselves and other trailgoers.

It was a linear playground -- people coughed, sweated, sneezed.

I left.  On our sidewalks, I saw no bike riders creating six feet of space around themselves either.

Do this: Create six feet of space between you and anyone you see on our bike path and sidewalks.

This is what we – you, me, all of us - must do for each other because this is everyone’s job now. As hard as this sounds, we must keep our distance - 6 feet - from each other.

This is the way we show how much we care.
