Toys for Tots

UPDATED Dec. 19: Brookline Bank again teamed up with Marine Toys for Tots for the 2023 holiday season; donations were accepted from Nov. 6 through Dec. 8. The bank announced Dec. 19 that 2,850 toys -- possibly more than last year -- were collected for children in need.

Brookline Bank has 29 locations across greater Boston. Residents were asked to donate new, unwrapped toys during regular business hours, including at 856 Mass. Ave., Arlington.

“We really appreciate the kindness of our clients, staff and local communities in helping to make this toy drive a huge success. These toys will brighten the holidays for many underprivileged children throughout the region," Darryl Fess, bank president and CEO, was quoted in a news release.

Toys are being distributed to needy children in Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk and Suffolk counties.

“We are delighted to offer our banking offices as drop sites for the Marine Toys for Tots,” said Fess. “The profound impact of this effort is truly heartwarming, and we are privileged to play our part in making a difference during the holidays.”

Last year, Brookline Bank collected more than 2,800 toys for children through the Marine Toys for Tots campaign, the release said.

“Now in its 76th year, Marine Toys for Tots, through the gift of a new toy, helps bring joy to the holidays and sends a message of hope to less fortunate children. Thanks to the public’s generosity, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve has distributed over 652 million toys to more than 291 million children,” the release stated.
