Arlingtonians welcome to join this longstanding nonprofit group

UPDATED April 20: LexFun, a volunteer-run parent organization serving Lexington and contiguous communities including Arlington, hosted its yearly consignment sale Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Lexington High School field house, 251 Waltham St. Proceeds fund scholarships, organizers say.

 This event featured "high quality, gently used" baby and children's clothes and shoes, sizes newborn to size 12, plus toys and other items, a news release said.

The sale began at 10 a.m. for the public (8 a.m. for volunteers helping at the event). At 1:30 p.m the half-price sale began; by 3 p.m. the "bargain bag" sale was scheduled for one hour: whatever could fit into a provided bag for $30.

FinalNewLexFUNLogoRegistered sellers at this event earned 50 percent of the profits they made; the balance is donated to the organization's community fund used to help families in need. According to the release, the 2023 sale earned more than $78,000, which helped fund scholarships supporting children's education. Since the organization's founding, $300,000 have been raised in scholarship money, and scholarships range from $250 to $4,000 per family, Chu said.

According to its website, the LexFun, which began in 1942, seeks to enrich the lives of families with young children in and around Lexington and to provide support for members and the communities served.
