Robin Lord, a former Arlington resident, provided the following statement and photo about her late husband:

"It is with great respect for the community that we let you know a memorial bench honoring Arlington resident Cary Coovert was installed on the Minuteman Bikeway on Sept. 8, 2020 [near Season Four in Lexington]. Cary succumbed to injuries from an accident on the bikeway on March 24, 2019.

"He loved the outdoors, was an avid hiker and cyclist, and commuted to work regularly by bike. Our family established this memorial to create a place for peaceful reflection, and as a positive reminder to safely share the bikeway that Cary loved.

"We would like to acknowledge the support we have received from family and friends, both near and far, during these very tender times. Our respect and heartfelt thanks go out to the First Responders, the Lexington Police and DPW departments and the amazing biking community for their efforts.

"We are forever grateful to those who helped make this bench possible through their donations of funds, time and services, including: Cliff Hakim, Inspired Stones; Sandy Gleed, Seasons Four; John LeMasurier, LeMasurier Granite Quarry; Alan Birill, Ed Peabody and those individuals who gave so generously through appeals made by the Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition (MassBike) and the Friends of Lexington Bikeways.

"A memorial will be scheduled at a time when large groups can safely gather once again. In the meantime, our family looks forward to sharing this special place with you to stop and rest and think of our Cary.
