Arlington activist/author Gail McCormick has published A Bridge to Oblivion, about gas pipelines in Massachusetts and the Weymouth compressor station.

McCormick is a member of the Arlington chapter of Mothers Out Front, a group that has raised public awareness about gas leaks, among pother issues. She is a member of its gas pipeline task force.
"Construction of the Weymouth compressor station will make it possible to send fracked gas to Canada and Europe," she wrote. "It is the final link needed and an absolutely insane idea as the book makes very clear.
"Needless to say, the members of Sustainable Arlington are aware of the problem and opposed to the construction, let alone any other new fossil fuel infrastructure in Massachusetts."
Two parts of the prologue are based on real incidents, she noted.
In the book, its heroine’s antigas protests are aided by three MIT students and their professor. There are violent attempts on her life by those who don’t want her to succeed. A hurricane hitting Boston adds to the drama.
McCormick has been opposed to climate change for 30 years. She has had award-winning art shown in museums, university galleries and at the U.N. Rio Conference. She has a master’s degree from Columbia University.
