UPDATED Nov. 14: The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) hosted their annual clothing drive Nov. 4 and 5, at St. Agnes Church, 32 Medford St.

Residents evaluating their wardrobes for the fall and winter were encouraged to bring items that they no longer need to donate to the drive, because the overall community need for warm clothing is increasing as colder weather is approaching, a news release said.

"People were so generous this year — the donations filled both the back seat and back bed of a pickup truck multiple times," wrote Debbie LaValley,  a local member of St. Vincent de Paul.

According to LaValley, donations included men's and women's coats, sweaters and sweatshirts, dress shirts, pants, hats, scarves and other miscellaneous items. Most of the donations were sent to the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Woburn. The hats, scarves and socks collected are set to be included in the 100 bagged lunches made at St. Camillus, 1185 Concord Turnpike, for the Boston Sock Exchange, which helps the local soup kitchens in the area.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Arlington seeks to assist the people of Arlington experiencing crisis or poverty.
